Craigmillar Library Sensory Garden

The garden at the back of Craigmillar Library is currently in disrepair and unable to be used by the public. Community Alliance Trust is transforming this into a sensory garden for everyone in Craigmillar.
A sensory garden is designed to be a relaxing and vibrant space, with plants that smell, taste and look good. Our vision is that the garden can be used by people in the library as somewhere to get away from the stresses of daily life, where people can volunteer and be connected to nature, and where organisations can run activities.
We want to design and build this with the community. If you would like to get involved, we will be running community garden sessions throughout the summer of 2026. No experience is needed and you can find out more below.
Community Garden Build Sessions at Craigmillar Library
We have been co-creating a design to restore the garden at the back of Craigmillar Library and turn it into a relaxing and inclusive sensory garden.
On Weds 24th June from 10.30am to 1.30pm we will be running our first community garden build session.
If you would like to get involved please come along. There's no commitment or experience needed, and our community gardener Kat will be on hand leading the session. You can sign up by following the link below:
