Craigmillar Library Sensory Garden
The garden at the back of Craigmillar Library had fallen into disrepair and was unable to be used by the public. Community Alliance Trust has transformed this into a sensory garden for everyone in Craigmillar.
A sensory garden is designed to be a relaxing and vibrant space, with plants that smell, taste and look good. Our vision is that the garden can be used by people in the library as somewhere to get away from the stresses of daily life, where people can volunteer and be connected to nature, and where organisations can run activities.
Our garden sessions with volunteers are almost complete and we will be celebrating the reopening of the garden with a green gathering on 3rd October 2026. Come along to find out more!
Community Garden Build Sessions at Craigmillar Library
We have been co-creating a design to restore the garden at the back of Craigmillar Library and turn it into a relaxing and inclusive sensory garden.
Our community gardener Kat runs volunteer sessions every Wednesday and Friday from 10.30am to 1.30pm.
If you would like to get involved please come along. Go through the library and out the door to the garden at the back. There's no commitment or experience needed, and Kat will be on hand leading the session.
